Project Beneficiary – PaintWorks (Prishtina)
Dozens of wood processors are benefiting from the technical assistance provided by the GIZ Kosovo “Creating Employment Through Export Promotion” project.
Through this project, the selected businesses will be provided with knowledge of the certification and standardization required to export their products to the European market.
The project is being implemented by the Regional Development Agency – Center and supported by the German Government through GIZ Kosovo and the CETEP project.
Export Enhancement Project
The objective of this project is to support the private sector in order to maximize export potential, improve export-import ratio, boost employment, as well as increase international trade between Kosovo wood and metal processing companies and foreign businesses.
To address the negative trade balance, with the support of the German Government, Through GIZ Kosovo, through Creating Employment Through Export Promotion Project, this project aims at improving the ratio of export/imports, through tailoring such a program that will enable local businesses to export their products and services not only in the region, but with a strong focus in Western Europe and beyond.

Capacity building for Municipal Managers
Enhancing municipal capacities remains a priority for RDA-Center and the participating municipalities. In order to achieve this objective, RDA-Center, in cooperation with Rural Economic Sustainability Initiative (RESI), Austrian Development Agency and CARE organized a two-day training / workshop focused on “Project Management” in Durres on September 25-27. The workshop was led by Austrian expert Maximilian Foedinger.
The training was attended by municipal directors from economic and finance development departments and other municipal officials, staff of RDA, RESI and CARE.
The training aimed to provide the introduction of the project management approach with primary focus on managing Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects for the directors of Directorates for Economic Development, Agriculture and Rural development and those charged with the responsibility of implementing development projects aiming at economic development with main focus on the rural areas in their municipalities, for all municipalities of center region of Kosovo. The training promoted the creation of synergies between target municipalities and also help the municipal representatives in better understanding the project management approach to effectively deliver on their activity plans.
Primary objectives achieved by the workshop:
(1) Training the directors of municipal economic development and finance departments on project management best practices,
(2) Improve understanding of project management principles and best practices for organizational success
(3) Equipping participants with project management skills to strengthen their capacities to coordinate and manage various activities efficiently and effectively
