Kosovo mayors’ delegation visits Iowa
The partnership between Kosovo and Iowa will continue to be strengthened, through closer cooperation between the local authorities of both countries, but also by expanding with economic cooperation.
This was stated during a meeting of the Deputy Governor of the US State of Iowa with a delegation of Mayors of the Republic of Kosovo, who are staying in the United States of America under the auspices of the Regional Development Agency – Center and the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo.
The Deputy Governor of the State of Iowa, Adam Gregg, expressed his satisfaction with Iowa’s partnership with Kosovo, which is reflected through the partnership agreements between the different cities of Kosovo with those of Iowa. He expressed his country’s pledge to expand this partnership in the field of economics as well, stressing the opportunity for Iowa businesses to become part of the Iowa Governor’s delegation during their June visit to Kosovo.
Part of this delegation are the Mayor of Prizren Mytaher Haskuka, the Mayor of Gjilan Lutfi Haziri, the Mayor of Vushtrri Xhafer Tahiri, the Mayor of Shtime Naim Ismajli, the Mayor of Obiliq Xhafer Gashi, the Mayor of Ranillug Vladica Aritonovic, Mayor of Mamusha Municipality Abdulhadi Krasnic, Partesh Municipality Mayor Dragan Petkovic, two municipal directors from the Municipality of Gracanica Milos Dimitrijevic and Dejan Jovanovic, as well as Blerim Hasani, representative of the Ministry of Regional Development.
The mayors of Kosovo expressed their commitment to strengthen partnerships with relevant cities from the state of Iowa, presenting, among other things, investment opportunities in their municipalities for American companies from Iowa. They expressed their gratitude for Iowa’s support for Kosovo in various fields.
During this visit, the Mayor of Gjilan Lutfi Haziri will sign a partnership agreement between the City of Gjilan and the Sioux City of Iowa, while the Mayor of Vushtrri will have meetings with his counterpart and the business community from Norwalk, which has a partnership with Vushtrri. The delegation will also meet with the Secretary of State of Iowa, Fort Dodge city leaders, military officials of the Iowa National Guard, as well as other economic, educational, cultural and sports companies and organizations.
